According to the U.S. Travel Association, Travel and Tourism are essential to the U. S Economy with a direct impact of $1.1 trillion in travel spending. Travel generates $171 billion in tax revenue and 8.9 million jobs with payrolls of $268 billion. Based on 2018 figures, the total impact of Travel and Tourism nationwide generated $2.5 trillion in economic output and 15.7 million American jobs. Tourism is the 7th largest employer of all industries in the United States with one in ten U.S. non-farm jobs are supported by travel.
