Celebrate National Nonprofit Day – August 17th

Tuesday, August 17th, is National Nonprofit Day.  This day is dedicated to recognizing the tremendous effort and beneficial impact nonprofits and charities have on their communities.

If you are not employed or involved with a nonprofit, take the time to learn more about local organizations in your community.  A greater understanding of the mission and funding of these organizations will help you realize the benefits of supporting them either by volunteering your time or making a donation.

If you represent a nonprofit or are a volunteer or donor, there are several ways you can honor and let them know how much they are appreciated:

  • Thank them in person whenever possible or send a handwritten personal note to each one.
  • Give public recognition on social media to feature staff. volunteers, and donors not only on National Nonprofit Day but throughout the year.
  • Posting a group photo of everyone involved in a special program or project is a great way to recognize them and share success stories.
  • Plan a Fundraiser around this Day each year where employees, volunteers, and donors can share their experience being involved in a special project.
