Appalachian Gateway Communities Regional 2019 Workshop

November 5-7, 2019 in Bristol, TN

The 2019 ACGI regional workshop is a 3-day team-based workshop will provide communities with the skills needed to drive sustainable economic development while preserving their unique community character. To be eligible, your community must be a gateway community in an ARC-designated distressed, transitional, or at-risk county. Communities and towns that border publicly owned lands such as national and state parks and forests are considered Appalachian gateway communities.  Since 2007, the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) have partnered with The Conservation Fund to help Appalachia’s  gateway communities expand tourism, arts, and other economic development opportunities through the Appalachian Gateway Communities Initiative (AGCI).  For county eligibility, see the ARC website. All attending communities may be eligible for a seed grant to implement their community’s action plan developed during the workshop.
