Living Heritage and Sustainable Tourism

The 4th Heritage, Tourism, and Hospitality Conference (HTHIC2020) will bring together tourism and hospitality researchers, practitioners and policymakers to discuss ways to attract tourists while engagin all stakeholders in contributing to preservation of natural and cultural heritage. The conference will be held in Mendrisio in the Italian speaking Canton Ticino, Switzerland, a captivating example of ‘living’ tangible and intangible heritage.
HTHIC2020 is organised by the UNESCO Chair in ICT to develop and promote sustainable tourism in World Heritage Sites at USI – Università della Svizzera italiana (Lugano, Switzerland) and consultancy Elgin & Co. (Netherlands) in collaboration with the UNESCO-UNITWIN Network “Culture, Tourism, and Development”. The conference theme evolves around “Living Heritage and Sustainable Tourism” with Mendrisio, in the Italian speaking Canton Ticino, as a fascinating example of ‘living’ tangible and intangible heritage.
